Sackett Family History

1630
Simon Sackett
Simon Sackett (1595–1635), our pioneering ancestor, arrived in the Massachusetts Bay Colony shortly after the Winthrop Fleet, embodying the bold spirit of early American settlers. As one of the founders of Cambridge, Massachusetts, he braved the unknown to establish roots in the New World, laying the foundation for generations of Sacketts who pursued freedom and opportunity—much like how Sackett Ranch outfits today's adventurers with gear built for enduring legacies.

1777
Nathaniel Sackett
Nathaniel Sackett (1737–1805), a Revolutionary War spymaster handpicked by General George Washington, orchestrated vital intelligence networks in New York, training operatives like Benjamin Tallmadge and providing crucial insights that helped secure American independence. His cunning patriotism and commitment to liberty mirror the honor-bound ethos we uphold at Sackett Ranch, where we equip our community with tools to conquer challenges and protect what matters most.

1801
Augustus Sackett
Augustus Sackett (1769–1827), a visionary New York lawyer and businessman, acquired vast lands on Lake Ontario's shores in 1801 and founded the strategic village of Sackets Harbor, which became a key naval base during the War of 1812. His entrepreneurial drive and community-building foresight echo our mission at Sackett Ranch to create spaces—both physical and digital—where families thrive, supported by products that honor American innovation and unity.

1823
Clement C. Moore
Clement Clarke Moore (1779–1863), a scholar and distant Sackett cousin (3rd cousin twice removed via Simon Sackett), is renowned for authoring the beloved poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (better known as "'Twas the Night Before Christmas"), which shaped American holiday traditions and captured the magic of family heritage. His creative legacy adds a warm, cultural layer to our Sackett story, inspiring the community-building joy we foster through our products and experiences that bring families together in the great outdoors.

1845
D.B. Sackett
Delos Bennett Sackett (1822–1885), known as D.B. Sackett, was a West Point graduate and Civil War hero who rose to Brevet Major General for gallant service, later becoming Inspector General of the U.S. Army. His lifelong dedication to duty and leadership in defending the Union exemplifies the honor and resilience we instill in every Sackett Ranch product, empowering our customers and employees to tackle life's battles with unyielding strength. Notably, Sackett's Well in the Arizona desert—named after him during his western explorations—inspired author Louis L'Amour to christen his legendary Sackett family in the iconic Western novels (beginning with "The Daybreakers" in 1960), blending real Sackett toughness with fictional tales of family loyalty and frontier justice that perfectly align with our brand's values of heritage and adventure.

1850
William Augustus Sackett
William Augustus Sackett (1811–1895), a principled lawyer and U.S. Congressman, was a fervent anti-slavery, opposing the admission of more slave states and championing for justice in pre-Civil War America. His advocacy for equality and moral courage reflects our commitment at Sackett Ranch to building an inclusive community where every customer feels empowered, and our team member is valued, all while delivering the best gear for pursuing personal freedoms.

1894
Augustine Sackett
Augustine Sackett (1841–1914), an innovative entrepreneur, patented drywall (Sackett Board) in 1894, revolutionizing construction worldwide and earning induction into the U.S. National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2017. His forward-thinking ingenuity reflects our dedication to crafting durable, high-quality gear that builds better lives, honoring the inventive spirit that drives American progress and community pride.

1900
Carl Leroy Sackett
Carl Leroy Sackett (1876–1972), a true Wild West icon, was a frontiersman, U.S. district attorney, and Wyoming's oldest practicing attorney, witnessing stagecoach robberies, the James Gang era, and figures like Buffalo Bill Cody. His adventurous life on the frontier, filled with tales of perseverance and law in lawless lands, inspires Sackett Ranch's gear designed for modern pioneers who embrace the untamed American spirit while building proud families and unbreakable bonds.

1924
Henry Sackett
Henry Sackett (1851–1928), an English immigrant who settled in Texas in 1870, became a state legislator and struck oil wealth in 1924, embodying the rags-to-riches American Dream through hard work and opportunity. His story of perseverance and prosperity inspires our mission to provide tools that help customers chase their dreams, while creating a workplace where employees thrive as part of the Sackett family.

2022
Jon Sackett
Jon Sackett, our visionary founder and CEO, launched Sackett Ranch in 2022 after a career as a firefighter and paramedic in Chicagoland, channeling our family's pioneering heritage into a brand that curates premium gear for modern adventurers. Under his leadership, we're building a nationwide empire rooted in family values, delivering the ultimate shopping experience and fostering a community of shared American pride we promise—customers and employees alike—who live the American Dream every day.
