Sisters Rodeo Weekend Recap: A Celebration of Grit, Tradition & Community
The dust has settled, the arena lights have dimmed, and another unforgettable Sisters Rodeo weekend is in the books. This event was a testament to the strength, skill, and dedication of the Western community. Here’s a look back at the people, the prep, the history and the incredible athletes that made this weekend one to remember.

A Community That Lives the Western Way
Rodeo is more than just a competition—it’s a vibrant celebration of people and passion. The Sisters Rodeo, held recently, united a diverse crowd of ranchers, cowboys, rodeo families, and Western lifestyle aficionados, all drawn together by their deep love for the sport and the rugged life it embodies. The stands brimmed with fans, boots stirred the dusty fairgrounds into life, and lively conversations sparked around campfires and vendor tents, creating a warm, communal spirit. One of the most heartwarming sights was the next generation stepping into the spotlight—kids gazed in wide-eyed wonder as their rodeo idols performed, eagerly collecting autographs and dreaming of their own arena days. Meanwhile, seasoned rodeo veterans shared tales of yesteryear’s competitions, reinforcing that rodeo transcends sport, weaving itself into the very fabric of a cherished way of life.

History of Sisters Rodeo and the Town of Sisters
Sisters Oregon only has a population of about 3,000. The town may be small but their spirit and dedication to this town is not. You can feel the local pride and the care they take in their community. The Sisters Rodeo, affectionately known as “The Biggest Little Show in the World,” galloped into existence in 1940 when a group of local couples rallied $10,000 to stage the first event east of town, a testament to community resolve. Over the decades, it found its permanent stomping ground on 33 acres west of Sisters, evolving from makeshift bleachers to sturdy stands, fueled by “creative” financing and the tireless efforts of volunteers. The town of Sisters, cradled by the majestic Three Sisters Mountains, echoes this resilience—once a quiet pioneer outpost, it’s blossomed into a Western haven where shops and events flourish, especially during rodeo week.

The Show: Rodeo Action at Its Finest
The 2025 Sisters Rodeo roared to life with five electrifying performances from June 11-15, kicking off with the heart-pounding Xtreme Bulls night on Wednesday, followed by Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening shows, and culminating in a relaxed Sunday afternoon finale. Each showcase brought PRCA classics to the arena—bareback riding, saddle bronc, bull riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, barrel racing, and breakaway roping all captured by the Cowboy Channel’s live broadcast. Saturday’s downtown parade rolled through Cascade Avenue with vintage cars and prancing horses, while the Red Rock Corral offered a sold-out alternative with big-screen views and cold drinks. The rodeo after party featured amazing live music that got everybody dancing along.

What We Were Doing There
This past weekend, the Sackett Ranch crew saddled up for the Sisters Rodeo, with cameras in hand and ready to rodeo! We weren’t just spectators—we were there to capture the raw, dusty action through our lenses, cheering on our sponsored athlete as he took on the arena with grit and determination. Between snapping photos, we networked with fellow rodeo enthusiasts, handed out branded koozies to spread the Sackett spirit, and soaked in the good times.

Until Next Time!
What elevates the Sisters Rodeo to legendary status is its soul—a captivating blend of world-class competition and small-town warmth that’s hard to rival. Tucked against lush national forest, it welcomes nearly 35,000 spectators with an open-armed vibe, where city slickers and seasoned ranchers mingle like old friends. With over 250 volunteers and community-funded scholarships for Central Oregon youth, it embodies timeless values of country, and family. Local shops lean on rodeo week to keep their doors open, while top stock contractors like ensure the animal athletes shine. For Sackett Ranch, immersing ourselves in this tradition—is a privilege that keeps the Western spirit thriving for generations to come. We can't wait for next year!
